"'Won't you step into my parlour', said the spider to the fly"

Debra Tate-Sears Spider ParlourA visit to an artist's studio is a rich and rewarding experience, and if it is a country studio off the beaten path, can give us an opportunity to explore parts of our own backyard that we may not otherwise venture into. Meeting with an artist or artisan where they work can be inspiring, and affords an opportunity to see new work, works in progress, and the creative process.

However, most of us feel that we may be intruding, and worry that we may not be able to extricate ourselves from the artist's workspace, and more often than not their home, without feeling guilty for interrupting them, or by purchasing something we may not really want to assuage that guilt.

I thought by calling my studio "The Spider's Parlour", I could state the obvious, and by doing so, let you know that this is not the case. I'm always ready to "spin" a yarn or two about my work, the coffee is always on, and pay no attention to the large cobweb near the exit.
